Nana Sherri’s Nest: Why I’m Rebranding The Kitchen Prescription

If there’s one thing life has taught me, it’s that we grow into new seasons whether we’re ready or not. For years, I cooked and wrote under the name The Kitchen Prescription, but somewhere along the way, the name stopped fitting. I’ve stepped into a new chapter filled with grandbabies, heritage recipes, cozy crafts, and a fixer-upper house in Ohio — and I wanted a brand that reflects all of it. Welcome to Nana Sherri’s Nest.

If you’ve been with me for a while, you probably noticed things look a little different around here. After many years of blogging as The Kitchen Prescription, I’ve finally decided it’s time to set that name free and step fully into a brand that feels honestwarm, and true to who I am today.

Welcome to Nana Sherri’s Nest — my new home on the internet.

Why The Kitchen Prescription No Longer Fits and Rebranding Makes Sense

When I chose the name The Kitchen Prescription years ago, it felt clever. I am a Registered Nurse and thought it was a catchy name because I was in the medical field and I loved to cook and share recipes. Food for what ails you… I imagined my kitchen offering a kind of “prescription”—recipes, tips, and ideas to help people feel better through food.

But over time, the name started to feel… well, a little misleading.

I’m not a health-food blogger.
I never have been.

I’m a “mostly-cook-from-scratch-with-love-and-butter” blogger.
I learned from the hands of my Scottish, Irish, and Pennsylvania Dutch family — women who didn’t measure much, but who cooked with heart, heritage, and a lot of soul. My food is comfort food. Midwest food. Passed-down-through-generations food.

And then came the final nudge:
Someone in the UK scooped up the name The Kitchen Prescription for their own brand. Seeing it floating around out there in a way that didn’t reflect who I am made me cringe a little. It no longer felt like my own identity… and honestly, it hasn’t felt like “me” for a long time. Rebranding just feels right at this moment of my life.

A New Season of Life, A New Name

In the last few years, I’ve stepped into one of the sweetest roles of my life: Nana.

I now have two beautiful grandchildren, and they’ve changed the rhythm of my world in the best way.

We even bought a 1990s house in Ohio so we can spend more time near them, although we won’t be moving permanently — and yes, we are slowly renovating it into a cozy little nest of our own. That’s a whole other story! Here she is in all her glory.

1990's Ohio House Renovation

I’ll be sharing a lot more about this renovation as I’ve been documenting everything from the purchase. It was a foreclosure we purchased at an online Auction. You can follow me on my YouTube channel which I will also be rebranding. So many social media sites to change like my TikTok and Instagram account also. Ugh! I can feel the headaches already.

And while food will always be part of my story, I’ve grown into so much more.

Now, my days are a mix of:

  • simmering soups
  • crocheting blankets
  • playing with clay in my little pottery nook
  • sanding trim and picking paint colors
  • baking cookies with little hands helping
  • and finding joy in the everyday magic of being “Nana”

“The Kitchen Prescription” simply couldn’t stretch wide enough to hold all of that.

But Nana Sherri’s Nest?
That feels exactly right.

What You Can Expect Going Forward

This rebrand isn’t an ending — it’s an expansion. Instead of trying to fit myself into a title that never quite matched, I’m opening the door to a broader, richer, more personal kind of storytelling.

Here’s what you’ll find inside my nest:

🥘 Recipes from my heritage

Scottish shortbread, Pennsylvania Dutch comfort dishes, Midwest classics, and the scratch-made meals I’ve loved my entire life.

🧶 Crochet & handmade crafts

Blankets, gifts, little cozy makes — the quiet hobbies that bring me peace and joy.

🏡 Our Ohio house renovation

The good, the bad, the beautiful, and the “why is this wall crooked?” moments.

👵 Nana stories & slow living

The sweetness of grandparent life, the beauty of family, and the small traditions I’m passing on.

🎨 Pottery adventures

Messy hands, wobbly bowls, and learning as I go. I do have another dedicated website (Vanilla Vine Pottery) for my pottery but will share snippets here from time to time.

Thank You for Growing With Me

Whether you’ve been here from the beginning or you just stumbled into my nest, thank you. Truly. This space has grown and changed, just like I have, and I’m excited for this new chapter.

The recipes will still be here. The stories will still be here.
But now, everything finally feels connected — food, family, crafts, creativity, and home.

Here’s to the next chapter of this journey.
Here’s to Nana Sherri’s Nest.

Pull up a chair.
There’s always room at my table and in the nest!
